Our internal medicine and family practice physicians are available to help patients with routine and preventive medical care, as well as management of chronic illnesses such as diabetes. Our doctors focus on caring for the whole individual, addressing issues affecting all areas of the body, and collaborate with specialists when specialty care is needed for a patient. In addition to diagnosing and treating illness, the physicians at Rosalind Franklin University Health System promote wellness principles, encouraging patients to take an active role in their own health by providing the knowledge and support they need to maintain a healthy lifestyle.
What Can a Primary Care Provider Do for You?
Plenty! Your PCP treats you when you’re sick, of course, but also provides a variety of preventive health services such as your annual physical exam, immunizations (like your flu shot), advice for healthy eating, and more!
Your PCP can be a family medicine doctor (treats patients of all ages, from infants to seniors), or an internal medicine doctor (specializes in the treatment of adults). She or he should be the first person you call when you’re ill, need a checkup, or have questions about your health. They do everything from treating your cold and flu symptoms to helping you manage chronic diseases such as diabetes, heart disease or arthritis. Below are just a handful of the services offered, and conditions treated, by primary care providers:
- Annual Physical Exam
- Back-to-School Physical
- Healthy Eating
- High Blood Pressure
- High Cholesterol
- Sports Physical
- Vaccines for Children and Adults
- Weight Loss
- Well Baby Exam
